Creole Jazz Quintet

 

Swansea based "Creole Jazz Quintet" are led by well known popular trumpeter/vocalist Gwyn Lewis and including John Latham on clarinet, Tudor Thomas on trombone, Peter Berry on string bass and Joe Farler on banjo and guitar. This experienced group of musicians will present a program of New Orleans and Dixieland music, a good fix for all trad jazz followers

 

 

 

on Sunday 17th October we listened to

4 Foolish Things

 

Vocally led by Ruth Oxley, backed up by guitar, string bass and drums, the band's music is of the 1930s and 1940s era; written by giants of the music world such as Gershwin, Porter, Berlin and Hammerstein; scores originally made famous by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Fats Waller and The Ink Spots

The Tone Valley Jazz Band

 

The extremely popular West Country entertainers, The Tone Valley Jazz Band, come to West Wales on Sunday 19th September. The band, which is based mainly in Somerset, was formed over 40 years ago. Despite changes in personnel over the ensuing period, the Tone Valley jazzmen continue to provide a musical recipe that is enjoyed and appreciated wherever they play. Accomplished trumpeter Denny Blackmore leads the band, which includes bass guitarist Dave Stratford, Keith Hall on guitar/banjo (with great vocals) and Pembrokeshire-based Tudor Thomas on trombone.

The Swansea based band has been playing together for over 20 years.

For the Sunday brunch jazz set at the Fourcroft Hotel Tenby, the band will play a mixed set of Latin, Swing and Dixieland jazz
